Swords, Dragons and Knights. Oh My!

06/11/2018 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

This year in the 2018 Occasions catalog, Stampin’ Up had a suite that is my most favorite suite I have EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR (you get the idea right?) loved. It’s called Myths & Magic. Unfortunately is it no longer available, but if you were lucky enough to get some you know what I mean.

The DSP (designer series paper) is my most favorite part of this suite. I don’t know what I love about it the most. Dragons, knights, wizards, unicorns and mermaids. It’s too hard to choose!

One of the first things I made with this suite was a card for a card swap that I participated in.

The dragon is my favorite by far. I colored him and the knight using the new Stampin’ Blends from Stampin’ UP. These markers are amazing! They are so easy to use. I love how they add so much definition to the image. Of course this stamp set also had framelits to go with it so that made it easy to cut everything out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Puppies Please!

I realized I have some projects that I’ve been working on that I haven’t posted yet. A couple weeks back I did another challenge for “If you Give a Crafter a Cookie” and then things got switched around and this got lost in the shuffle. The cookie that week were these cute little dogs. I was so excited because we have the most adorable stamp set featuring a puppy and a parrot. The stamp set is called Bella & Friends.

When I saw this stamp set, I thought it lent itself perfectly to the narrow note cards that were introduced in the 2018 Occasions catalog (they are now in the 2018 Annual catalog as well!) The images fit so perfectly on these miniature cards. I decided to do a set of 3.

I stamped them in black ink and then colored them in with my watercolor pencils. At first I was a little nervous to use them because I am NOT a watercolor person. However, they were so EASY!! You just outline the image you want to color and then you use your blender pen to pull the color away from the side. It was so fun and relaxing.I then finished the cards off with some Washi tape and a layer of colored card stock behind and they were done!

PINspiration- Say What?

06/05/2018 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

So a few weeks back I told you I was part of new design team called “If you Give a Crafter a Cookie…” Well, I did a couple of  challenges for that and then was asked by the DT lead if I would be interested in doing her other design team. So I said yes and here we are. It’s called {PIN}spirational Challenges. Click on the name to go to the website. Basically the idea is that you base your project off a picture found on Pinterest.

This weeks challenge was HARD for me. Here is our photo.

Soccer? What was I going to do? I don’t have any soccer stamp sets. So after staring at this picture for a while, I decided I was going to base my card off of the soccer ball itself. I took out my Eastern Beauty stamp set and started playing around. One of my favorite things to do with stamp sets is to make my own paper. This is what I ended up with.

Isn’t this so pretty? I loved how it turned out. I used the black flower outline stamp to mimic the triangle shapes on the soccer ball and went from there. I also used the colorful shoes to inspire my ink colors. I used Bermuda Bay, Flirty Flamingo, High Heather (New Color!) and Lemon Lime Twist. After making the “DSP” I finished the card off with rhinestones, silver lined ribbon and a die cut flower.

Now it’s your turn to head over to {PIN}spirational Challenges and take the challenge!

This week the challenge was sponsered by Imagine That Digi Stamps

If you give a Crafter a Cookie!

Hello Everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I have some exciting news today. I am part of a new design team called, If You Give a Crafter a Cookie. It’s this really fun challenge based on those gorgeous cookies you see all over Pinterest.

Today’s challenge is also sponsored by A Day for Daisies.

Click here to head over to their website to check things out.

Now for today’s cookie!

Isn’t this so fun? Look at the beautiful colors, and attention to detail. Plus who doesn’t love fairies?

For my card, I was inspired by the green and purple colors, plus the sparkle that the cookies portray.

It’s probably hard to see on this card, but I used my Wink of Stella pen to make the mushroom, the flowers and the wings sparkle. I challenge you to head to the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie website and check out what the other design team members have created.

13 Days of Halloween- Project #3 Scarecrow Earrings

OK, it’s time for a confession. Raise your hand if the Cookie cutter stamps in the Holiday mini are your favorite? I can honestly say that I love them both!. The little scarecrow is my most favorite!! I can’t make enough things with him.

Now, I first need to say that this was NOT my original idea. I actually saw it on Facebook. These ladies were going on about something called Shrinky Dinks and I. WAS. WOWED! They are so much fun to play with. The idea is that you stamp on the paper, color it and then cut it out. Next you put it into an oven and watch them shrink all the way to almost nothing. It’s such a fun process. I spent a couple hours just sitting by my oven staring in.

On the left is the original size you cut out with the punch. On the right is the size they shrink down to. Make sure when you color them you use an alcohol based marker.

Allow them some time to dry so that things don’t smear as well.

Now some of you may be thinking, “That’s great Lynda, but what do I do with them?” Well you can make all sorts of things with them. I made earrings.

Totally cute, I know!! Wait until you see the Santa ones…………..

Well that’s all for today. Our next project will be out on Monday and believe me, you don’t want to miss it.

Thanks for stopping by.
