MKC- 12×12 Country Club Layouts

05/15/2020 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

TGIF!! Friday is finally here!! Although I’ve said this before, I will say it again. The days seem to all meld into one. Anyway, I’m excited about what I have to share with you today. Every 3rd Friday, I have a MKC or Memory Keeping Club. My ladies come and enjoy a night out while they put together three 2 page layouts. Everything is cut, prepped and ready to go. If you’re interested, I also have a “To Go” version. Join my email list and I can send you more info.

This month we focused on the Country Club DSP by Stampin’ Up! Now the interesting thing about this paper is that it’s all geared towards golfing. Which is great. Great. But I’m not a golfer and my ladies were much for golfing either so I had to be creative and come up with something different using the “B” side of the papers. And oh boy, was this a challenge. There was argyle print, and plaid print, and did I mention argyle print?

Well here’s what I came up with.

This was my first attempt at this Country Club DSP and I really liked the way it turned out. I wanted to use the Geared Up Garage stamp set to keep in time with the boy theme. I think this layout would be great for a birthday or Father’s day coming up. This would even be great for all those “Car Show” pictures you have lying around.

Everything on the layout is pretty straight forward. One of my favorite features are the “oil spills” that are around the page. Don’t be afraid to stamp directly on your page. It gives it texture and depth.

This next layout turned out pretty good too. If you can’t tell, I love that multi-color argyle print. Also, I used those cute little “key” & “wrench” embellishments. They are my FAVORITE!! If you don’t have some, you need to get them. They’re even on sale right now, but you only have until May 31st and then they are gone, gone, gone!! Click here to get these cute little guys.

Well car lovers, that’s all for today. Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Stamping

Above the Clouds…

05/13/2020 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

Happy Wednesday everyone!! We’re half way through the week. Today’s card is featuring our Above the Clouds stamp set that is retiring. What??? I know. This stamp is great because it has a punch to go with it!!

This card was made for one of the Queens swaps. I love everything about this card. It uses the Follow Your Art DSP (hmmm, I think we’ve seen this DSP before) and the Follow Your Art washi. Love me some good washi!!

My most favorite thing about this card is how the color comes together. If you ever find yourself in a “color block”, go to our wonderful DSP and find inspiration from that. I also like to look for color inspiration all around me. Clothes are a great way to find color combos. Especially little boy and girl clothes. They are the best.

Well that’s all for now, I hope you have a great day and remember,

Happy Stamping!!!

Follow Your Art meets Check You Out

05/11/2020 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

Happy Monday everyone!! I am a little late today getting my blog post up. I spent the morning making vinyl signs for a neighbor who has been serving on the front line during this Covid-19 pandemic. Sigh! They are finished!!

For today’s post, I wanted to highlight two different retiring items. The first is the Follow Your Art DSP and the second is the Check You Out stamp set. This stamp set is my favorite!!! I am so sad to see it go. Do you want to know which image is my favorite? The library card!! That’s right I still remember the days of filling out a library card to check your books out from the school library. It dates me, I know.

These two products pair perfect together to create a “Back to School ” layout. Every month I hold a Memory Keeping Class. In it, I always try to teach my ladies different things about scrapbooking and memory keeping. In this layout, inspired by one I saw online, we focused on the idea that you’re base pages don’t always have to match. They can compliment each other and things still look great.

We also talked about how our stamps can create wonderful accents to our pages. The great things about stamps is that you can use them over and over. Plus you can make them match any color combo you might be working with.

I also wanted to show the ladies in class, that you can easily combine that class photo with smaller pics. I love these class photos. They are the best!!

As I mentioned earlier, every month I hold a memory keeping class in my home. I also offer a “To Go” option as well. So if you love to scrapbook, but feel like you don’t have a ton of time, you should try this class. I pick a different DSP to focus on each month and you leave that night with 3 layouts (6 pages ) COMPLETELY DONE!! My ladies love it.

Thanks for stopping by today and remember,

Happy Stamping!!

Queens Wedding Swaps

05/08/2020 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

So every month as part of the Queens group, we do a card swap. For the month of April, the theme was Wedding cards. I was so glad because Wedding cards are some of the hardest cards to make for me. I really struggle with them. We can do as many cards as we want. I decided to do so that I would get twice the swaps and ideas back. I just want to thank my friend Laura Mellinger. Both of these cards were inspired by cards she made.

Here is my first card.

I knew I wanted to use the Parisian Blossoms DSP featured in our Jan-Jun Mini catalog. This paper is so pretty. Some of the pieces are foiled with a champagne color. I also wanted to use the Last a Lifetime stamp set because well it’s all about marriage & weddings!!

Card #2

This second card was lots of fun to make. I pulled out my Stamparatus and used it to do what we call “hinge” stamping. This card used a DSP called Ornate Garden, part of the Ornate Garden suite. It will be available in our annual catalog that begins in June. This DSP is so pretty too. It’s foiled with gold foiling. The Ornate Garden suite also has some wonderful dies. Both the gold scallop along the left edge and the gold flowers behind the sentiment come from these dies.

I hope everyone has a great day!!

Happy Stamping!!

Accented Blooms Thank You

05/06/2020 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

It’s Wednesday and I have a card to show you today. The first time I saw this stamp set, Accented Blooms, I knew I wanted it. I love the outline image that can be colored, but I also liked that it used a punch as well.

I used the Stampin’ Blends to color the image. It takes some practice to figure out how to blend them together! I also used some shimmer black embossing powder (retiring) for the “Thank You” sentiment. The punch that is featured on this card is the Tailored Tag punch. I love this punch. It has such a unique shape. Maybe it’s the straight edges? Anyways the last on this card is the burlap ribbon (also retiring). This add just a bit of texture to the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Stamping!!
