Secret Card Challenge

05/29/2020 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

So last week, I took part in a challenge that another demo did. She gives clues about what you need for your card. And then you put it together without knowing what the card is suppose to look like. It was a fun challenge.

Here is what my ended up looking like:

I really like how it turned out. I used the Perennial Birthday stamp set. One of the techniques I like to do it make my own DSP. I also like the color scheme. I usually like to work in brights so it was a challenge to work with subtles.

The sentiment comes from the “So Sentimental” stamp set. This. Is. A. Must. Have. The dies it comes with are also a must have. This will be a wonderful card for somebody to hopefully cheer them up.

Happy Stamping!!

Hey Golfer, Golfer, SWING!!

I’ll be the first to admit that the golfing theme of the Country Club DSP in the January-June 2020 Mini was not my favorite. However, as I thought about it, I realized I did have some pictures I could use it for. My son has worked at a golf course for the last two summers.

Most of the prints in this DSP pack are very busy so it’s hard to use them together. I was able to calm things down with Garden Green card stock. I stamped the golfer and colored him with blender pens and water color pencils.

This suite also had those cute wooden pieces full of golf balls, clubs and tees. I had to find a way to use them. The last thing I finished with was journaling. In my opinion, journaling is one of the most import things you can do on a page. It’s so important to write things down. A picture can explain a lot but it’s nice to have the details in writing.

Well that’s all I have for today. Thanks for stopping by. Happy scrapping!

MKC-Dinoroar 12×12 Layouts

The Dinoroar Suite was the first suite I bought when this catalog went live. I was so excited for it. I don’t really have a thing for dinosaurs or anything but this is some of the cutest paper we have ever had.

For my memory keeping class (MKC) I wanted to feature both a layout for baby girls and baby boys. This DSP was set up perfect for that.

Baby Boy Layout

Last but not least, I wanted to incorporate the other cute DSP’s. That is the hardest thing about this paper. All of the prints are so cute that it’s hard to pick which one you want to use. Another great things that Stampin’ Up has been doing is they have designed the DSP so that we can cut out the shapes in them with our dies. This is great for those times when you need to make a quick card or layout and don’t want to take the time to color.

Well I hope you have a DYNO-mite day and stay tuned for next months’s MKC class.

Sounds FISHY…. 12×12 Layout

05/20/2020 Lynda Day Leave a Comment

Today I have another 12×12 layout using the Country Club DSP. This was so hard for me to make, but it ended up being a favorite. I showed it to my husband and he said, “Of course it would be your favorite. It’s about fishing” Needless to say, he’s a fisherman at heart.

Sometimes when you’re making a page, it’s all about staring at it for a while. I moved several things around. Tried different combos and then it finally hit. I needed to match the diamond shape found in the argyle pattern. Tip: When you’re creating a layout, take inspiration from the product you’re using. Maybe the paper, stamp set or even the photos.

Use the images in your stamp set, to create collages to help accent the theme you’re working on.

It just so happens that I have a few of my own little fisherman here.

Thanks for stopping by today! Happy Stamping!!

Arrr! It be Teacher Appreciation Week!

Normally Teacher Appreciation week is celebrated the first week in May. We are a little late this year, but I wanted to show you all the cute things what we did. Big shout out to my friend Margaret who helped make all this possible. Our theme was “We treasure our Teachers” so of course we had to use as many pirates things as we could.

First up a bag, of gold. What pirate or teacher doesn’t love GOLD?

With this one, we couldn’t help ourselves. We had to use the current situation to help us out. The tag “Let’s Just Roll With It” is from the “Share Sunshine” PDF that Stampin’ released as part of Making a difference-Covid 19 product give back. It’s this great PDF that has lots of page with so many wonderful and fun sayings. You can purchase it here and ALL the proceeds to go a charity of your choice, The WHO or United Way. It’s available through June 2, 2020.

I think this one speaks for itself.

One of my jobs was to designed a gift card holder that looked like a treasure chest. This was such a fun challenge. It’s amazing what you can do with a little creativity and some paper!

The end result. We did 110 bags when all was said and done. And I have to say, it was awesome. Each bag was delivered individually to the person’s home and it was great to see their smiling faces.

Thank You to all the teachers, staff and admins that have helped us get through the last 3 months. It’s been hard on EVERYONE, but when we work together, we can get through ANYTHING!!
